Savernake Forest is one of the most ancient surviving woodlands in Britain. It is surrounded by sites important to the ancient Britons, such as the prehistoric chalk figure of the White Horse and the celtic monument of Stonehenge. Mark Reed’s inspiration for this sculptural table came as a result of visiting Savernake and discovering two trees ‘forged’ together in growth which was first showcased at the New Designers at Decorex International 1999.
